HL Deb 25 May 1937 vol 105 cc221-2

Page 1, leave out lines 13 to 17.

THE EARL OF FEVERSHAM

My Lords, the proviso to Clause 1 makes provision for the import of eels for human consumption only. This Amendment is to delete this proviso, for it is considered safe to leave eels out of the Bill altogether because, in the first place, eels are highly resistant to furunculosis, and secondly, it is inconceivable that eels would be imported for any purpose except human consumption. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Earl of Feversham.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
