HL Deb 23 July 1936 vol 102 c196

Clause 16, page 15, line 14, leave out ("January") and insert ("May").

THE EARL OF FEVERSHAM

My Lords, Clause 16 originally proposed that the Bill should come into operation on January 1, 1937. A Consolidation Bill has been promised and as such a measure would facilitate the administration of the law as amended by the Amendment Bill, it is desired to fix a date for the operation of the Amendment Bill which will allow time for the passing of a Consolidation Bill. The Amendment Bill has taken longer than was expected and the Amendment accordingly proposes to defer the date of operation until May 1, 1937. I beg to move that the Amendment be agreed to.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Earl of Feversham.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
