HL Deb 21 July 1936 vol 102 cc134-5
THE MARQUESS OF ZETLAND

My Lords, this again is a technical matter. The Order is to enable the Treasury in this country to take over the charges in connection with the India Office which have been laid upon it by the Government of India Act. It also provides for India to meet that part of the pensions which has accrued before the new arrangement was come to. This Order again merely gives effect to the provisions under this head made by the Government of India Act.

Moved, That the Draft Order, as presented to Parliament and reported from the India and Burma Orders Committee on Thursday last, be considered and approved.—(The Marquess of Zetland.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
