HL Deb 21 July 1936 vol 102 cc133-4
THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (THE MARQUESS OF ZETLAND)

My Lords, I think this Order requires very little explanation. It is in effect to define certain areas in Burma which it has been decided should be partially excluded areas under the Government of Burma Act. It merely carries out what has already been decided by Parliament and there is no need that I should say anything further about it. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Draft Order, as presented to Parliament and reported from the India and Burma Order Committee on Thursday last, be considered and approved.—(The Marquess of Zetland.)

LORD RANKEILLOUR

My Lords, may I say one word on this Motion? It will also cover the two next Orders. As the noble Marquess knows, my noble friend Lord Salisbury and I are accustomed to follow these Orders with a certain vigilance, which is shared by many outside the walls of Parliament, and he will be delighted to hear that on this occasion we find that the three Orders are quite harmless.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
