HL Deb 15 November 1934 vol 94 c477

Clause 9, page 9, line 29, leave out from the beginning to ("as,") in line 31, and insert ("Not later than the end of May in each year, every licensing authority shall, subject to the provisions of this section, fix one hundred and four days in the year which begins on the first day of July next following.")

THE MARQUESS OF LONDONDERRY

My Lords, as the Bill stands Clause 9 requires a licensing authority "a reasonable time before the beginning of each calendar year" to fix the 104 appointed betting days for that calendar year. The Amendment proposes the 104 betting days should be fixed for the period from the 1st July to the following 30th June and that the licensing authority should fix the days before the end of May for the following betting year. I beg to move that we agree with the Commons in this Amendment.

Moved, That this House cloth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Marquess of Londonderry.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
