HL Deb 05 December 1934 vol 95 c133
LORD MERRIVALE

My Lords, the second Bill which I mentioned is one dealing with procedure in matrimonial causes for the purpose of introducing, if possible, conciliation for the settlement of matrimonial differences without a public investigation. It proposes "to amend the law relating to proceedings between husband and wife in respect of domestic differences." It may be that that will overlap the Bill which the Lord Chancellor has proposed to introduce, but at any rate it will not do any harm. The proposals in the Bill after the Second Reading here last Session were received, I know, with general satisfaction. I beg leave to introduce it and to move that it be now read a first time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 1a.—(Lord Merrivale.)

On Question, Bill read 1a, and to be printed.
