HL Deb 29 May 1930 vol 77 c1184

Page 4, line 12, leave out from ("that") to ("any") in line 14, and insert ("for the purposes of the provisions of the principal Act relating to the number of patients who may be received in such hospitals or houses).

EARL RUSSELL

My Lords, this really is a drafting Amendment connected with the calculation of the number of patients and when a relative or friend has a right to be received. As the clause was worded originally it was not strictly accurate because the number was prescribed once for all. The object is to ensure that the presence of relatives or friends does not result in exceeding the number prescribed, and this Amendment has that effect. I beg to move that it be agreed to.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Earl Russell.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
