HL Deb 29 May 1930 vol 77 cc1188-9

Page 7, line 41, at end insert ("and a local authority shall have power, subject to the approval of the Board of Control, to contract for the reception and treatment of such patients in any registered hospital or any institution, hospital or nursing home approved by the Board of Control under that section").

EARL RUSSELL

My Lords, this repairs an omission in the Bill. As originally drafted, local authorities were enabled to provide and maintain accommodation, but they were given no power to contract with a registered hospital or an approved institution for the reception of those patients, and it is desirable that they should have this power.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Earl Russell.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
