Clause 3, page 3, line 20, after ("application") insert ("after consultation with the owner of the bridge and every highway authority entitled to exercise with respect thereto the powers conferred by this Act and after holding an inquiry, if either the owner or any such highway authority requests him in writing to hold an inquiry").

THE MARQUESS OF LONDONDERRY

My Lords, this is an Amendment which is intended to meet the representations which have been made that before making an Order the Minister should first consult the owner of the bridge and the highway authorities concerned, and should hold an inquiry if requested in writing to do so by either of the parties. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Marquess of Londonderry.)
