The Committee were informed that Mr. Whitehead, the Resident Superintendent, was due to retire at the end of the financial year. The Committee sanctioned the following payments to him on his retirement, calculated in accordance with the Superannuation Act, 1909: (a) a pension of £121 per annum and a supplementary pension, subject to quarterly revision, calculated on the current rate of bonus; this supplement at the present rate of bonus amounts to £33 18s.: (b) a capital sum by way of additional allowance calculated on his present rate of salary together with the 75 per cent. of the current bonus, amounting to £396 6s. 2d.

In calculating the pension and allowance, the value of the Resident Superintendent's official residence had been included at the assessed amount, namely £140. This was sanctioned by the Committee. The question of the approval of the appointment of a successor to Mr. Whitehead was postponed.
