HL Deb 09 July 1928 vol 71 c854

[The references are to Bill No. 20.]

Clause 3, page 3, lines 7 and 8, leave out ("thirty-first day of December, nineteen hundred and twenty-eight") and insert ("twenty-eighth day of February, nineteen hundred and twenty-nine").

THE EARL OF STRADBROKE

My Lords, the object of this Amendment is a simple one. Since the Bill was introduced it has been pointed out that a great many contracts have been entered into by egg merchants for the delivery of preserved eggs for the period from October to the end of February, and therefore it is obviously desirable that this clause should not come into operation until after February 28 next. I beg to move to agree with the Commons in this Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Earl of Stradbroke.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
