HL Deb 10 December 1928 vol 72 c452

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE EARL OF PLYMOUTH

My Lords, this is a periodical Bill with which your Lordships are familiar. It does not cover exactly the period of a year but the period until the next Act is passed. We had one Bill in March, 1927, and one in December, 1927. The present Bill authorises the advance of up to £35,000,000 to the Public Works Loans Commissioners for various purposes and it is hoped that it will be sufficient to meet requirements until April, 1930. I do not think that it is necessary for me to trouble your Lordships with a speech but I will try to answer any questions that may be put to me. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Earl of Plymouth.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
