Debate resumed (according to Order) on the Amendment, moved yesterday by Lord Balfour of Burleigh, to leave out Paragraph 10 of the Schedule:—

Purchase of tramways by local authorities.

16. The provisions of Section 43 of the Tramways Act, 1870, shall apply to the intended tramways. Provided that in the application of those. provisions the period of forty-two years shall be substituted for the period of twenty-one years therein mentioned.

My Lords, I understand that the Amendment moved yesterday has been circulated and that the noble Earl, Lord Beauchamp, is satisfied. In the absence of the noble Lord, Lord Balfour of Burleigh, I hope, therefore, that the matter will now go through.
