THE LORD CHANCELLOR:

My Lords, I now come to the more agreeable part of my ordeal. Lord Banbury moved some Amendments and I am prepared to accept these with a slight variation which I do not think affects the substance. The Commons accept these Amendments in principle but propose Amendments in substitution of the- Lords Amendments. The object of these Amendments is to accept the Lords Amendments in Clause: 5 which provide for the first revision of contribution taking place in 1926, instead of 1927, and for subsequent biennial revisions instead of triennial revisions, and to supplement the Lords Amendments by providing that in the year 1926 and in each second succeeding year the revision is to be made after the first of October in the year in question. These are all consequential alterations, and do not really touch the substance of Lord Banbury's Amendments.

Moved, That this House doth not insist upon the said Amendments but does agree with the Amendments made by the Commons to the Lord's Amendments.— (The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
