HL Deb 09 April 1924 vol 57 cc221-2

THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (LORD PARMOOR) had the following Notice of Motion on the Paper:—

That it is desirable that a Select Committee be appointed to enquire into the provisions and working of Standing Order No. XXI, and that the following Lords be named of the Select Committee:

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT HALDANE)

My Lords, unfortunately the Lord President of the Council is prevented from being in London to-day, and in the circumstances the question is what course your Lordships would like to take with regard to this Motion. Would you like to defer it till to-morrow when the Lord President will be here, or would you desire to take it now? I am in your Lordships' hands. I gather that it is agreeable to Lord Beauchamp that it should be put off until to-morrow, and if that is also agreeable to the noble Marquess (the Marquess Curzon of Kedleston) I will take that course.

THE MARQUESS CURZON OF KEDLESTON

I have no objection.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

We will put it down for tomorrow.
