HL Deb 22 June 1922 vol 50 c1107

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords' in moving that this Bill be read a second time it is perhaps sufficient for me to say that its object is to improve the educational courses which are undertaken by solicitors. It comes before your Lordships' House as a Bill most warmly recommended by the Law Society, who are responsible for the education of young solicitors, and also strongly supported by the Ministry of Education. In these circumstances, although I am prepared to give a detailed explanation of its clauses, I hope your Lordships will be willing to accept this explanation and give a Second Reading to the Bill.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
