HL Deb 01 August 1922 vol 51 c1013

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR AIR (LORD GORELL)

My Lords, this Bill is to extend by six months the time within which application has to be made and consent received to such application by the Railway and Canal Commissioners under certain Acquisition of Lands Acts. There are, I believe, over fifty cases awaiting decision. The date fixed under present legislation is August 31, and it will be impossible to consider them without an extension of the time. I beg to move.

Moved, that the Bill be now read 2a.—(Lord Gorell)

On Question, Bill be now read 2a, and committed to a committee of the Whole House.

Then (Standing Order No. XXXIX having been suspended) it was moved, That the House do now resolve itself into Committee.—(Lord Gorell)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

House in Committee accordingly: Bill reported without amendment.

Bill read 3a, and passed.
