The Lord Great Chamberlain explained to the Committee his proposed arrangements for giving additional rooms to meet the pressing requirements of the Clerk of the Crown and Permanen Secretary to the Lord Chancellor. He proposed:—

1. To assign the two rooms on the ground floor looking on to Old Palace Yard, now occupied by the Resident Engineer, to the Clerk of the Crown.

2. To assign the rooms on the third floor, now occupied by the Housekeeper (with the addition of a large room, very kindly placed at his disposal by the Clerk of the Parliaments) to the Resident Engineer.

3. To assign the four rooms on the third floor now occupied by the Resident Engineer to the Housekeeper.
