§ The Clerk of the Parliaments informed the Committee of the death of Mr. W.G.G Leveson Gower, killed in France on the 9th of October, 1918, and of the death of Mr. A.W.G. Hinchliffe, who died of pneumonia on the 20th of February last.
§ The Committee expressed their great regret and authorised the payment in each case of a year's salary, in accordance with the provisions of the Superannuation Act, 1909, the amounts being £300 in the case of Mr. Leveson Gower, and £285 in the case of Mr. Hinchliffe.
§ The Committee heard with regret of the retirement of Mr. W.H. Gordon, Mr. A.H. Robinson, Mr. H.P. St. John and Mr. T.A. Court.
§ Mr. Gordon, Senior Clerk in the Office and Clerk of the Journals, has completed forty-three years in the service of the House. He retires on the 30th of April next, and the Committee sanctioned the grant to him of a pension at the rate of £500 a year as from the 1st of May next, and a gratuity of £1,669 16s. 8d., the pension and gratuity being calculated in accordance with the Superannuation Act, 1909.
§ Mr. Robinson, Principal Clerk of Private Bills, since 1901, and Taxing Master of costs on private Bill since 1903, has completed forty-one years of service. He retires on the 31st of May next, and the Committee sanctioned the grant to him of a pension of £800 a year, as from the 1st of June next, in accordance with the Superannuation Act, 1859
§ Mr. St. John, Principal Judicial Clerk and axing Master of Costs on Judicial Proceedings since 1908, has completed forty years of service. He retires on the 31st of March, and the Com- 676 mittee sanctioned the grant to him of a pension of £766 13s. 4d. as from the 1st of April next in accordance with the Superannuation Act, 1859.
§ Mr. Court, Receiver of Parliament Office Fees, Accountant and Examiner of Acts since 1903, has completed forty-five years of service. He retired on the 28th of February last, and the Committee sanctioned the grant to him of a pension of £325 a year, as from the 1st of March and a gratuity of £1,048 4s. 8d.
§ The Clerk of the Parliaments reported that he had appointed Captain Francis W. Lasceller, M.C., and Captain Colin Davidson to fill up two of the present vacancies in the Parliament Office.
