VISCOUNT SANDHURST

The Amendments standing in my name to this clause are really drafting, so as to bring this Bill into conformity with the Nurses Registration (No. 2) Bill, which we have just taken through Committee. There is only one Amendment which is not drafting and that is in regard to the number of the Council.

Amendments moved— Clause 2, page 1, line 17, after ("nurses") insert ("for the sick") Clause 2, page 1, line 22, leave out ("other than nurses to be included in some other") and insert ("who satisfy the conditions of admision to that") Clause 2, page 2, line 3, at end insert ("Where any person satisfies the conditions of admission to any supplementary or prescribed part of the register, his name may be included in that part of the register notwithstanding that it is also included in the general part").—(Viscount Sandhurst.)

VISCOUNT SANDHURST

The reason for my Amendments is this. It is determined to increase the number on the Council from ten to fifteen as is the case first of all in the Scottish Bill, to admit of certain nurses of various associations being included, and to include nurses engaged in certain specified lines of their profession, such as monthly cases, children's cases, and so on. The Amendments carry out that intention.

Amendments moved— Schedule, page 7, line 6, leave out ("four") and insert ("six") Schedule, page 7, line 11, leave out ("six") and insert ("nine").—(Viscount Sandhurst.)
