HL Deb 11 June 1918 vol 30 c161

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

VISCOUNT HALDANE

My Lords, this Bill is exactly analogous to the Bill which your Lordships passed recently, by a large majority, to open the profession of solicitor to women. It proposes to do the same for law agents in Scotland. It does not touch solicitors before the Supreme Court, or Writers to the Signet. The Bill as it stands merely deals with the broad principle which your Lordships dealt with in the recent Bill. I move that it be read a second time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read2a.—(Viscount Haldane.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
