HL Deb 15 August 1917 vol 26 c474
LORD ORANMORE AND BROWNE

My Lords, I rise to ask His Majesty's Government whether a Petrol Board for Ireland has been appointed, and, if so, what is the reason why it has not commenced operations. I understand that the names of four gentlemen were approved, but for some reason they have not been actually appointed, and it is supposed that the reason of the delay is that another Government Department is anxious to be represented on that Board. Perhaps the noble Lord will tell me if that is the case, or what is the reason of the delay.

LORD HYLTON

My Lords, in answer to the Question of my noble friend I have to tell him that an Advisory Committee has recently been appointed in Dublin. I have not been favoured with the names of the gentlemen who compose, that Committee, but I understand that they will commence their work forthwith. Applications made to the Committee of which I spoke will be forwarded to the Board of Trade with their advice on the subject.
