HL Deb 27 June 1916 vol 22 cc396-7

LORD PARMOOR had the following Notice on the Paper—

To call attention to the administration of the Army Order of 25th May, and to ask whether its provisions have been applied in all cases.

LORD SANDHURST

Before the noble and learned Lord asks this Question, I would respectfully make an appeal to him. He is aware that the Prime Minister was to have made a statement in another place on the subject which forms the point of my noble friend's Question. The press of business, however, has been such that it has been impossible for the Prime Minister to make his statement to-day. It would be more convenient, therefore, if the noble and learned Lord would be so good as to postpone his Question for a day or two.

LORD PARMOOR

I should certainly comply with a request made in the terms which the noble Lord has used. My desire is to promote a just settlement of a very difficult matter, and I do not think it would promote an object of that kind to bring on my Question at the present time, after what the noble Lord has said. I will therefore postpone it until Thursday, which I understand will be a convenient day.

LORD SANDHURST

I am much obliged to my noble friend. Thursday will suit very well.
