HL Deb 16 September 1914 vol 17 c701

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES (LORD LUCAS)

My Lords, Army pensions at the present moment are paid at intervals of three months, and are paid in advance. The object of this Bill is to enable these pensions to be paid at more frequent intervals, and also to make provision, in the case where a pensioner dies, that his representatives shall not be the losers by this arrangement—that is to saw, there will be paid to them the equivalent amount of money to that which would have been paid if the pensioner had received the whole of his three months' pension in advance. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2ª.—(Lord Lucas.)

On Question, Bill read 2ª.

Committee negatived: Then (Standing Order No. XXXIX having been suspended) Bill read 3ª, and passed.
