HL Deb 27 August 1914 vol 17 c544

Brought from the Commons.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 1ª.—(Lord Wimborne.)

On Question, Bill read 1ª, and to be printed.

LORD WIMBORNE

My Lords, the object of this Bill is to give the naval authorities in Ireland power to billet. The Army has, of course, power to billet in Ireland; the naval authorities, however, have not. This Bill extends to the Navy the powers which the Army have with regard to billeting and the requisitioning of wagons, etc., on emergency.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2ª.—(Lord Wimborne.)

On Question (Standing Order No. XXXIX having been suspended) Bill read 2ª: Committee negatived: Bill read 3ª, and passed. (No. 270.)
