HL Deb 27 August 1914 vol 17 c542

Brought from the Commons.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 1ª.—(Lord Emmott.)

On Question, Bill read 1ª, and to be printed.

LORD EMMOTT

My Lords, this is a Bill similar to one which has been already passed for England. The object of the Bill is to prevent loss or diminution of benefits under the superannuation scheme to teachers in Scotland who are on service during the present war with the naval or military forces of the Crown or are engaged in any other service of public benefit in connection with the war. I am sure that your Lordships will sympathise with the object of the Bill, and readily agree to pass it through all its stages.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2ª.—(Lord Emmett.)

On Question (Standing Order No. XXXIX having been suspended), Bill read 2ª: Committee negatived: Bill read 3ª, and passed. (No. 262.)
