HL Deb 10 March 1910 vol 5 cc132-3
THE MARQUESS OF LANSDOWNE

My Lords, it would be convenient to many members of your Lordships' House if we could receive some intimation from the noble Earl who leads the House as to the course of business next week. It is suggested, I understand, that we should sit all night and every night for the discussion of the Motion and Resolutions which have been placed upon the Paper by Lord Rosebery.

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL AND SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (THE EARL OF CREWE)

My Lords, in reply to the noble Marquess, I understand that in relation to the important Motion of my noble friend on the Cross Benches it would be to the general convenience if we were to sit on Monday both before and after dinner, with an adjournment—not, I hope, all night, as the noble Marquess suggested might be possible, but until our usual hour. I am given to understand that it would be to the convenience of some noble Lords who are interested in the debate that the House should not sit after dinner on Tuesday. Therefore I suggest that on Tuesday we should have only an afternoon sitting. Then on Wednesday and any following day, according to the course of the debate, we could adjourn for dinner and continue the debate on my noble friend's Motion until it is concluded. I hope that will meet the convenience of noble Lords opposite.
