HL Deb 01 August 1910 vol 6 cc639-40

[SECOND READING.]

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

LORD PENTLAND

My Lords, this is a Bill to amend the law respecting the authentication of extracts under the Acts relating to the registration of births, deaths and marriages in Scotland. It enables a seal to be affixed in the place of a signature. Where there are a large number of documents this will be a great convenience. In this respect also the law of Scotland is assimilated to that of England, in the sense that it gives the Scottish Registrar-General similar powers to those now possessed by the English Registrar-General.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(Lord Pentland.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House To-morrow.
