HL Deb 26 October 1909 vol 4 cc477-8

[SECOND READING.]

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

LORD DENMAN

My Lords, I think a very few words of explanation will suffice to enable your Lordships to accord a Second Reading to this Bill. It settles a dispute which has been going on for some time with regard to the appointment of Clerks to the Crown and of the Peace in the county of Cork. I believe it is a Bill which is urgently wanted by legal authorities in Ireland, and I understand it has the approval of the noble and learned Lord opposite, Lord Ashbourne, who is very well acquainted with the circumstances of the case. I move that the Bill be read a second time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(Lord Denman.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House on Monday the 8th of November next.
