HL Deb 21 October 1909 vol 4 c199
THE MARQUESS OF LANSDOWNE

My Lords, I rise to ask the noble Earl opposite a question of which I have given him private notice. Is he prepared to make any statement in regard to the course of business in this House during the next few days?

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL AND SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (THE EARL OF CREWE)

It is proposed to take the Third Reading of the Irish Land Bill on Monday, and on Tuesday, the 26th, to take the Report stage, and also, if the House will agree, the Third Reading of the Development Bill. That will conclude the business which we have immediately before us, and if the House agrees, and we are able to get through current business by Tuesday evening, I should propose that the House should then adjourn until Monday, the 8th of November.

THE MARQUESS OF LANSDOWNE

I think it would perhaps be wise to avoid finally deciding whether both the Report and the Third Reading of the Development Bill should be taken on Tuesday until we see further how we get on with the stage in which the Bill is before the House to-night.

THE EARL OF CREWE

I quite agree; and, of course, it will be possible for us to sit on Wednesday next supposing we find that the business cannot be got through on Tuesday.

Moved, That Standing Order No. XXI. be suspended on Monday next, and that the Third Reading of the Irish Land Bill have precedence of the other Notices and Orders of the Day (The Lord Privy Seal (E. Crewe)); agreed to, and ordered accordingly.
