Commons Message considered (according to order)—Moved, That this House do concur in the Resolution communicated by the Commons: That it is expedient that a Joint Committee of Lords and Commons be appointed to inquire into the censorship of stage plays as constituted by the Theatres Act, 1843, and into the operations of the Acts of Parliament relating to the licensing and regulation of theatres and places of public entertainment, and to report any alterations of the law or practice which may appear desirable (The Lord Denman); agreed to; and a Message ordered to be sent to the Commons to acquaint them therewith.
