HL Deb 14 May 1908 vol 188 cc1294-5

Order of the day for the Second Reading read.

LORD ALVERSTONE

My Lords, this Bill raises no controversial question. The Long Vacation was altered last year by twelve days being taken off at the end. It is necessary, therefore, to alter the time for notice of appeal from a Revising Barrister's decision. I have framed this Bill so as to give the same time as is given by the present law. The only effect of the Bill is to adapt the law to the change which has been made in the Long Vacation.

Moved, "That the Bill be now read 2a."—(Lord Alverstone.)

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

This Bill, or practically the substance of it, has been made necessary by the alteration last year in the Long Vacation. I do not think it contains any very great principle, and I hope your Lordships will accept it.

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House on Tuesday next.
