HL Deb 25 March 1908 vol 186 cc1351-2
THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (The Marquess of RIPON)

My Lords, I daresay your Lordships may be surprised at the Motion standing in my name on the Paper. The fact is this: I am informed that before the House adjourns, in all probability the Consolidated Fund Bill will come up from the other House. That Bill is, by general practice, put through all its stages at once, and as it is desirable to have a Commission to-morrow for giving the Royal Assent to certain Bills I beg to move the suspension of Standing Order No. XXXIX. so that the Consolidated Fund Bill may be included in that list. I need hardly tell your Lordships that I shall make no use of the power except for that particular purpose.

Moved, "That Standing Order No. XXXIX. be considered in order to its being suspended for this day's sitting."—(The Marquess of Ripon.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
