EARL CAWDOR

My Lords, in the absence of my noble friend Viscount Midleton I beg to ask the noble Earl the Under-Secretary for War the Question on the Paper—namely, whether he will lay on the Table a Return giving the strength of each infantry battalion and each battery of artillery on the Home Establishment on 1st February, showing the number of men in each unit who have less than one year's service or are under twenty years of age; showing also the number of recruits at the depot in the following form—

that it will not be possible to have it prepared before a fortnight or three weeks.
