HL Deb 09 December 1908 vol 198 cc397-8
* LORD REAY

My Lords, seeing the noble Earl the President of the Board of Agriculture in his place, I wish to ask him a Question of which I have given him private notice—namely, whether his attention has been called to the statement that the Richmond Town Council have received from the Department of Woods and Forests a month's notice to quit part of the allotment ground rented from the Crown to the Corporation, and whether, in view of the keen demand for allotments in Richmond and the difficulty of obtaining land for the purpose, he will ask the Commissioners to withdraw the notice to quit or to provide other suitable land in place of that taken away.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES (Earl CARRINGTON)

My Lords, in answer to the noble Lord I have to say that the land to which he refers is not under my authority. I am, therefore, unable to give any particulars at present, but I am making inquiries. My colleague will receive a deputation from the Richmond Corporation on the subject.
