HL Deb 13 December 1906 vol 167 cc635-6
EARL CARRINGTON

This is a drafting Amendment necessitated by and consequent on leaving out Clause 9.

Amendment moved—

"In page 5, line 8, after the word 'and' insert the words 'shall be read and construed and"—(Earl Carrington.)

Clause 12, as amended, agreed to.

EARL CARRINGTON,

in moving the omission of the preamble, said: This is another drafting Amendment which ought to have been made in the House of Commons.

VISCOUNT ST. ALDWYN

asked whether the noble Earl would not now rename the Bill. It was ridiculous to call it the "Land Tenure Bill;" it ought to be called the Agricultural Holdings Act Amendments Bill.

EARL CARRINGTON

I move to postpone the question of title until Report.

Standing Committee negatived.

The Report of Amendments to be received on Wednesday next, and Bill to be printed as amended. (No. 238.)
