§ The LORD GREAT CHAMBERLAIN acquainted the House "That His Majesty had appointed Admiral Sir Henry Frederick Stephenson, K.C.B., G.C.VO., to be Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod in the room of General Sir Michael Anthony Shrapnel Biddulph, G.C.B., deceased, and that he was at the door ready to receive their Lordships' commands"; whereupon the House directed he should be called in; accordingly he was called in and officiated in his place.
