HL Deb 08 August 1905 vol 151 cc582-3
VISCOUNT TEMPLETOWN

My Lords, I rise to ask His Majesty's Government the Question standing in my name, viz, whether it has been decided to discontinue the publication of the "Return of Proceedings" of the Irish Land Commission, which has heretofore been published monthly or at other short intervals; and whether, in any case, it could be arranged that particulars of proceedings under the Irish Land Act, 1903, such as those given on Pages 9, 10, and 11 of the last issue of the above Return ([Cd. 2462.] for February, 1905) should be published monthly in future.

THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL AND PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION (The Marquess of LONDONDERRY)

My Lords, I do not wonder that my noble friend, who is so much interested in Irish land, has put this Question to His Majesty's Government. The Answer I have to give him is a very short one, and I hope it will prove satisfactory. It is not the intention to discontinue the publication of the monthly Return of Proceedings of the Irish Land Commission, which includes Proceedings under the Land Act of 1903. The Return for the month of March last has been somewhat delayed having regard to the preparation of the annual Report of the Land Commission to March last, and also the preparation of the Estates Commissioners' Report to a like date. It is now in the printers' hands; it is in an advanced stage, and will be presented to Parliament before the end of the session. Every endeavour will be made to publish the monthly Returns in future without undue delay.

VISCOUNT TEMPLETOWN

I am perfectly satisfied with the Answer which the noble Marquess has given me.
