The King's Answer to the Address of the 17th of May last reported by the Lord Steward (E. Pembroke and Montgomery) as follows:—

"I have received your Address praying that I will give directions that a monument be erected in the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster, to the memory of the late Most Honourable the Marquess of Salisbury, with an inscription expressive of the high sense entertained by the House of Lords of his rare and splendid gifts, and of his devoted labours in a Parliament and in great offices of State. I shall give directions in accordance with your Address."
