HL Deb 28 April 1904 vol 133 c1409

House in Committee (according to Order).

Bill reported without Amendment. and re-committed to the Standing Committee.

THE EARL OF WEMYSS

My Lords, I wish to give notice that on the Third Beading of this Bill I shall move the following Resolution, viz.: "That this House is of opinion that no alteration should be made in the principle of Poor Law relief as now administered, save on the direct responsibility of the Government and after a full independent public-inquiry into the working of the present law. This House meantime thinks it undesirable to proceed further with this Bill."
