Delivered by the Lord Privy Seal (M. Salisbury), and read by his Lordship, as follows—

EDWARD REX,

His Majesty, taking into consideration the eminent services rendered by Lieutenant-General Lord Kitchener of Khartoum, G.C.B., G.C.M.G., Commander-in-Chief of His Majesty's Forces in South Africa, and being desirous, in recognition of such services, to confer upon him some signal mark of His favour, recommends to the House of Lords that they should concur in granting Lord Kitchener the sum of Fifty thousand pounds.

Ordered, that the said Message be taken into consideration Tomorrow.
