HL Deb 27 January 1902 vol 101 cc903-4
* LORD AVEBURY

My Lords, I beg to introduce a Bill for the earlier closing of shops. I have received many communications from tradesmen's associations all over the country, expressing regret that His Majesty's Government have not seen their way to introduce a Bill themselves after the unanimous Report of the Committee last year. I hope the Bill, the first reading of which I now beg to move, will receive the support of the noble Marquess and the Government.

Bill to provide for the earlier closing of shops presented by the Lord Avebury; read 1a; and to be printed. [No. 5.]
