HL Deb 18 July 1901 vol 97 c774

Petition of Gilbert Henry Heathcote-Drummond-Willoughby, Earl of Ancaster, Baron Willoughby de Eresby, to His Majesty, praying His Majesty that it might be declared that he and his heirs are entitled to the office and dignity of Lord Great Chamberlain of England, and that if, contrary to his contention, it should appear that the said office and dignity are in abeyance between the co-heirs of Peregrine and Robert, Dukes of Ancaster and Kesteven, Barons Willoughby de Eresby, to determine such abeyance in favour of the Petitioner; and further that, if His Majesty should be pleased, pendente lite, to appoint a deputy to execute the said office, and that such appointment may be made subject to the Petitioner's right, if any should appear to exist. Presented (by command); read, and referred to the Committee for Privileges to consider and report.
