HL Deb 29 March 1900 vol 81 cc621-2
LORD NEWTON

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he is able to state the conditions upon which commissions in the Regular cavalry will be granted to Yeomanry officers.

THE MARQUESS OF LANSDOWNE

We propose to give one commission in the cavalry to each Yeomanry brigade, upon the following conditions:—The candidate must be medically fit. Selected candidates will have to attend before the medical board in London; their age must be above twenty and under thirty, and they must be unmarried. These are the only conditions.
