HL Deb 10 May 1897 vol 49 cc88-9
*THE EARL OF HOPETOUN

moved the Second Reading of this Bill. It was intended to exempt the wills of naval pensioners from the operation of Section 5 of the Act of 1865, and also to allow a solicitor, or in Scotland a law agent, to act as an attesting witness under conditions set forth, thereby giving the men a larger freedom of choice without in any way depriving them of the protection which the Act afforded them.

Read 2a (according to Order), and committed to a Committee of the Whole House on Thursday next.
