From accounts which had been received, it appeared that the French General with a large escort, and supported by a strong force in the immediate vicinity of the City of Tunis, demanded an audience of the Bey, who was at length, under great pressure, induced to sign a Treaty virtually placing the Regency of Tunis under a French Protectorate.
§ EARL GRANVILLEThe Treaty which has been signed appears in some of the newspapers; but it will be only officially communicated to us at the, time when it is communicated to the French Chambers.
