The Earl of Radnor

brought in a Bill, the object of which was to do away with the necessity of subscribing to the Thirty-nine Articles on Matriculation at either of the Universities, the noble Lord moved that it be read a first time.

The Bishop of Glocester

remarked, that at Cambridge a person was not called on to subscribe the Thirty-nine Articles on Matriculation, or on taking his first degree of Bachelor of Arts.

The Bill read a first time.
