§ A Message was brought up from the Commons, requesting the House of Lords to grant permission to the Lord Chancellor to attend 466 as a witness, and give evidence, before the Committee appointed to inquire respecting the Emoluments of the High Officers of the State.
The Lord Chancellorhoped their Lordships would accede to the request of the House of Commons, and stated, that as far as he was personally concerned, he should throw no impediment in its way. He considered that his being permitted to attend the Committee of the House of Commons, would greatly further those salutary expedients and necessary reforms in the office of the Lord Chancellor, which he would submit to their Lordships tomorrow week.
§ On the motion of the Earl of Shaftesbury, leave was given to the Lord Chancellor to attend the Committee tomorrow, and the Commons were so informed.
