Lord Goderichsaid, a return had been laid upon the Table of the amount of country bank-notes stamped in the last three years, and of the unstamped notes allowed for at the Stamp Office. There appeared to be a progressive increase in both respects. He wished to know whether this account included Scotland; and if it did not, whether there would be any objection to furnish a return, distinguishing the amount of notes in the two countries.
§ The Duke of Wellingtonsaid, the account did include Scotland, but it might be difficult to distinguish between those parts of it which related to the two coun- 1343 tries. However, he would inquire into the subject.
