HC Deb 25 May 1922 vol 154 cc1426-7
78. Sir CECIL BECK

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury who is responsible for the publicity in connection with the sale of the Gretna works; and whether the posting in the back turnings off Waterloo Road, S.E., of bills announcing the sale of property worth several million pounds is intended to attract purchasers of the above-mentioned property?

Mr. YOUNG

With regard to the first part of the question, the Disposal and Liquidation Commission are responsible for publicity in connection with the sale of His Majesty's factory, Gretna. I am advised that the sale of this factory has not been advertised by poster. From inquiries made by the Commission it appears probable that the poster seen by the hon. and learned Member referred to a resale at the factory of certain stores which had been purchaseden bloc from the Commission.
